Intake Process

There’s a lot to consider when starting therapy. MEND has a step by step intake process that helps to discern if MEND could be a good fit for the care you deserve and the support you're seeking.

We currently have virtual and in-person appointments available with our Intern Therapists and Staff Therapists. Please see their bios and read about their fees to learn more.

When you’re ready to take the next step, click the “Ready to Get Started?” button below. This will take you to our Contact Us page where you can submit your contact information and indicate which services you’re interested in and which therapist you'd like to work with. You will then receive an email about next steps. You can also reach our intake team by emailing begin@mendseattle.com

If for any reason throughout our intake process we discern that we aren't able to provide you with the best care - due to scheduling, financial needs or level of care - we can provide referrals and resources.

Fees

We want counseling to be an accessible resource that can support as many communities as possible. We accept certain insurance companies (see below) and offer a range of sliding scale options (see below) for anyone paying out of pocket (self pay). We are grateful to each client who pays what they are able based on their economic situation. We will never ask you for your income. We ask you to honestly consider what you can sustainably pay. No guilt. No shame.

FEES WITH INTERN THERAPISTS

Supporting     $70 - Individual      $85 - Relationships
The Supporting Fee is MEND’s full fee. We ask all who can pay the Supporting Fee to do so.

Sustaining      $60 - Individual      $75 - Relationships
The Sustaining Fee covers the cost of counseling and keeps our doors open.

Sponsored      $50 - Individual      $65 - Relationships
The Sponsored Fee is the reduced fee we offer so that together, we can make counseling available to more people.

FEES WITH STAFF THERAPISTS

Full Fee                $150 - Individual            $165 - Relationships

We ask all who can pay the Full Fee to do so.

Sliding Scale       $70-120 - Individual      $85-135 - Relationships

For any clients who choose to pay out of pocket (self pay), we offer the above range of sliding scale amounts, which include fee reductions for paying at time of service, authorizing us to charge your credit/debit card saved in your secure client portal, and based on self-reported financial circumstances. You and your MEND therapist will work together to determine your per session rate if paying out of pocket. We ask you to honestly consider what you can sustainably pay.

FAQ's

I can’t afford $50 per week for therapy. Can I pay less?
Unfortunately no. $50-$70 is the lowest fee range we can offer, but there are some organizations independent of MEND that have funds available to support paying for therapy - here are some links to their websites:

Does MEND offer every other week or once a month counseling?
We believe an important aspect of therapy is finding and developing a connection between you and your therapist. The relationship you and your therapist build over time will support you in working toward the healing and change you hope to achieve. This relationship can take time and consistency to develop. MEND asks that clients commit to weekly sessions for the first 8-12 weeks of therapy. From there, your therapist will work with you to determine the frequency of ongoing care.

What payment methods does MEND accept?
When in person, we accept cash, check, and credit or debit cards. Payments using a debit or credit card can be made through your Ensora client portal.

How does scheduling work?
After you complete an Intake Questionnaire, our intake team will determine if MEND is a fit for your therapy care and pair and schedule you with a MEND therapist based on your preferences. MEND deeply values the pairing process of client and therapist. During times when MEND therapists’ schedules are full, we will offer to put you on our waiting list and pair you as soon as there’s an opening. If for any reason we’re unable to provide you with care, we will work with you to provide referrals and resources.

What if I get paired with a MEND therapist, and it’s not a good fit?
We believe that the relationship you build with your therapist is critical to the work you do with them, and there are times when it’s just not a “fit.” If this is the case, we have a step-by-step process to help you transition therapists.

Does MEND offer groups and workshops?
We do! Stay tuned to our website, as we keep it updated with upcoming groups and workshop offerings to support you and your healing.
